We’re inviting you to a relaxing art retreat and active travel holiday to the town of Vodice, near Šibenik, Croatia.
8 days and 7 nights in a quaint coastal town is an unforgettable getaway.
This affordable art and travel adventure with a small group (6-10) of your new like-minded friends will bring you a creative vacation filled with art, illustration, daily classes, healthy nutrition, and inspiring discoveries.
The art break welcomes solo travelers and couples, beginners and longer practicing artists. Teacher, Irena Sophia, is flexible and adjusts her classes to the group needs.
The art house, located right next to the sea, is a beautiful, relaxed bohemian home with all the necessary amenities, a surrounding outdoor area, a nearby beach, and a seaside view of the quaint fishing village.

Guidance from the art teacher
1 morning art session (afternoon art consultation available upon request)
Tours around the area , trip to town of Šibenik and Island of Prvić under guidance of Irena Sophia, with emphasis on art and culture.
Plenty of time for swimming, walking or just relaxing.
Tea and coffee available at all times.
Art BBQ at the villa.

ABOUT ART LESSONS
Art lessons will cover topics as:
Drawing basics
Color theory and exercices
Illustration: Style and Technique
Sketchbook experimentation
Drawing and painting on location

We will be working on standard easels, or you can use our big comunal table for your artwork. You will be supplied with specialy created art supplies package.
We will be working in basic drawing tehiques of soft pencils and charcoal, and also cover basic tehniques of watercolors and tempera.
Artist and Teacher
Irena Sophia is an artist currently living in Zagreb, Croatia. She finished the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, majoring in painting. Her style of work is greatly influenced by a combination of vintage illustration, manga, folk art, and modern design.
She is inspired greatly by soft lines, serene scenes, and creating a world of inner quietness and delicacy. She participated in various group shows in Croatia and abroad. She spends her time dedicating herself fully to her art.

ART SUPPLIES
You will be supplied with a specialy created art supply package that will include:
Plenty of good quality drawing and watercolor paper, sketching block, watercolor set of 12 half pans, different drawing pencils HB - B8, black carchoal, soft eraser and sharpener.
What to bring:
For idea exercises, a large inexpensive stack of drawing papers, sketchbook you normally use, pens, permanent markers, pencils, brushes, tape and A2 format map to store your artwork .
Please also bring any material you want to use to make your final illustration, which is up to you to decide. You may want to look up reference materials, or do research, so having some kind of web device would also help (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc).
It is also desirable to bring a camera so you can take photos of locations for reference and later work. Free wifi will be provided.
THE GOOD LIFE- FOOD
At the artist retreat we provide traditional and local Croatian meals:
– Self service rich breakfast with yoghurts, cereals, porridge, bread, jams, honey, eggs, baked goods, fruit, coffee, and tea
– Light mid day snacks - at the house
– Dinner – meals cooked at the house
All of our food is traditional local mediteranian cuisine. We use a lot of locally grown seasonal fruit, vegetables, spices and herbs as well locally produced as olive oil, cheeses, and meat. We purchase the food in the local market.
Healthy nutrition is a very important part of healthy lifestyle and we pay a lot of attention and time in preparing it and serving it fresh and delicious for you.
For vegetarians, please let us know in advance so we can plan your meals.
Coffee and tea will be available at all times.
ACCOMODATION
We accommodate our guests in a relaxed seaside house that is located on the eastern side of Vodice, a peaceful village next to Šibenik. With a nice view of the Bay of Šibenik, the house offers a perfect getaway from your busy life.
Guests also stay in nearby village apartments, all sharing similar standards and amenities as those offered by the Summer House: clean, spacious, and elegant rooms, equipped with bathrooms, comfortable beds, toiletries, towels, and bed linen.
You will feel at peace here and the serene settings will help deepen your artistic practices. With a garden and Mediterranean flora, outdoors dining and lounge areas, and a beach only a one minutes away, the house offers an invaluable setting for the art retreat and is simply charming!
Illustration, drawing classes, and other sessions will be held outdoors; and in case of rain or bad weather they will be moved indoors.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served in the outdoor dinning area or in the indoor dinning room in case of bad weather
We offer these options of accommodation:
Queen rooms (double room with one queen bed- double occupancy).
Twin rooms ( double room with 2 twin beds - double ocupancy).
Double room ( one double bed - single ocupancy).
You are in apartment with other 2-3 persons and you share bathroom and kitchen. All apartments have a nice terraces with sea views.

Bed linens and towels are provided at the house.
Please bring your own beach towels.

ACTIVITIES -FIELD TRIPS
During the art retreat we’ll invite you not only practice drawing and invoking your creativity, but also to explore the beautiful and unique regions around Šibenik. You will have your sketcbook ready to make unique travel journal.

Tour of the town of Šibenik
Šibenik, the capital of the Šibenik region, is the oldest originally Croatian settlements on the Croatian coast, dating back to when it was first mentioned in 1066. Known best for the Cathedral of Saint James, a Romanesque stone cathedral finished in the 15th century, it became a UNESCO World Heritage sight in 2000. The town houses wondrous architectural sights, including Venetian palaces, and an Austrian strongholds.
Prvić Island tour with picnic on the beach
Prvić is a small island off the Coast of Šibenik. It is situated in the Šibenik archipelago, about half a mile from the mainland, in the vicinity of Vodice. Picturesque fishing villages with a laid back atmosphere and crystal clear sea. We will visit two villages, Prvic Sepurine and then Prvic Luka with option to visit unique mini museum dedicated to renaissance scholar Faust Vrancic, inventor of parachute and friend of Leonardo de Vinci.

USEFUL INFORMATION
How to get there:
Vodice is located in the Central Dalmatian region of Croatia, in the county of Å ibenik.
The best airport to fly into is either the Split or Zadar international airport.
We will be meeting you at the airport (you will be informed of the exact time and location) and take care of your transportation to Vodice!
Other airports that you can also fly into are: Dubrovnik and Zagreb, and then taking a bus to Å ibenik.
If you would like to come to Split, Zadar, or Sibenik a few days in advance or stay a few days after ART Retreat Croatia in your own arangment to explore, please let us know so we can arrange a pick up to or from Vodice.
